Hag stones (also known as hex or witch stones) are naturally holed stones found along our coastlines, shaped by the tide and steeped in British folklore as charms of luck, protection and magic. The hole itself was thought to let good fortune pass through and they were traditionally hung over doorways to guard the home, tied to boats to keep sailors safe at sea, or worn as jewellery to ward off bad luck.
Inspired by days spent beachcombing for these sea-tumbled treasures, I’ve created my own version of the hag stone in recycled sterling silver as hanging charms. Each one is individually handcrafted in my studio and completely unique. These can be threaded onto chain or cord to be worn as jewellery or hung in your home (or on your Christmas tree!) as a token of the sea to guide + guard you. These make a particularly lovely gift this festive season.
Charms measure approx. 17mm x 17mm
Suspended on velvet ribbon (this is a mix of vintage and deadstock French velvets, so colours may change depending on what I’m able to source)
Your jewellery will be packaged using plastic-free, recycled and biodegradable materials. A portion of every sale is donated to support sustainability focused non-profit charities Cool Earth and Survival International.
